Summer Reading
One of the
best ways for your student to be an awesome reader is to read all year
long. That includes the summer! The following link takes you to a
recommended reading list compiled by the Baltimore County Public
Library. It is a great list because the books on the list are available
at the library. The list is divided by grade level. Check it out!

Book Donations:
It is the policy of Baltimore County Public
Schools Office of Library Information Services, that no public school
library can accept donated books. This includes books from students'
families. If you have books that you are wishing to give away, check
with some of the local women and children's shelters in the area. They
are usually very willing to take them off your hands.
Barbara Ann
Nozeika Memorial Library Fund
After
careful consideration, the funds from the Barbara A. Nozeika Memorial
Fund are being used to build a collection of Newbery Medal and Caldecott
Medal books for the Eastwood library.
The Newbery Medal is awarded to the
best young adult book of the year. It has been awarded annually since
1922. Some winning titles are Holes, A View from Saturday,
Sounder, and Bridge to Terabithia. The Caldecott Medal is
awarded to the book with the best illustrations. It has been awarded
annually since 1938. Some winning titles are Three Little Pigs,
Officer Buckle and Gloria, Rapunzel, and Black and
White.
It is the hope that each year we will
be able to add the winners to our collection with funds from the
Memorial Fund.
